Taylor Swift 1989 Album Announcement

Taylor Swift Announces 1989 (Taylor's Version) as Next Re-Recorded Album

1989 Taylor's Version is Coming This October

Taylor Swift has revealed that 1989 (Taylor's Version) will be her next re-recorded album. The Grammy-winning pop star made the announcement at the final stop on the US leg of her Eras Tour at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California on August 2, 2023, at 11:09 p.m. PT during the surprise song portion of the show.

"I wanted to tell you something that I've been working on for a really long time," Swift told the audience, according to Variety. "I'm really happy to announce that my next album that I'll be releasing is 1989 (Taylor's Version)."

1989 Taylor's Version Will Feature Five New Vault Tracks

Swift also revealed that 1989 (Taylor's Version) will feature five new songs from the vault, which are unreleased tracks that were recorded during the original 1989 era. Swift has been re-recording her old albums in order to own her master recordings after a public dispute with her former record label, Big Machine Label Group.

1989 was originally released in 2014 and was a critical and commercial success, selling over 10 million copies worldwide. The album spawned several hit singles, including "Shake It Off," "Blank Space," and "Bad Blood."

Swift's re-recorded albums have also been highly successful, with 2021's Fearless (Taylor's Version) and Red (Taylor's Version) both debuting at number one on the Billboard 200 chart.

1989 (Taylor's Version) is set to be released on October 21, 2023.
